CATS ADD A TOUCH OF TASSIE!

Updated: Jan 14, 2021

The Cats list continues to take shape in exciting fashion for the 2021 Season with experienced State League forward Chris Nield set to don the Blue & White Hoops of Mooroopna.

Nield played for Clarence in the Tasmanian State League alongside former Mooroopna Cats player, and Best & Fairest winner, Clint Riley. Nield is excited for his first experience of Victorian Football and will relocate to Mooroopna early in the New Year to launch into the resumption of the Cats Pre Season Campaign.

The Qualified Carpenter gave plenty of thought to his recent decision to become a Cat ''I wanted a change and was keen to still play Football''.

''Mooroopna ticked plenty of boxes in what I was looking for in a Club'.”

With 131 State League games to his name in Tassie's Top level Competition Nield believes he can offer the Cats young playing group some valuable leadership. ''After doing my own research I saw it a good opportunity to hopefully share my football experience and help the Club drive towards success”.

A talented forward, Nield who stands at 185cm, is a strong overhead mark and clever kick on goal (as highlighted in his match winning 5 goal haul from earlier this year). Now aged 26 years of age the Cats are set to benefit from the services of the strongly built & crafty player in the prime of his career.

He has been a consistent performer for the Clarence attack in recent years winning multiple goal kicking awards at the Club, and at the peak of his powers, has produced multiple 5 goal hauls in the Tasmanian State League Competition.

The Cats will look to put the finishing touches on the playing list after the Christmas/New Year festivities and approach the new Season with growing confidence and determination in achieving reward for effort for the entire Club.

Meanwhile the GVFL 2021 Season fixture has been settled with the Cats set to make the trip to Mansfield to kick the Season off on Saturday, April 3rd. The Club’s first home match of the Season, and first home match since August 24th 2019, will come 7 days later when the Cats host neighbours the Shepparton Bears. Mark those dates on the Calendar with a priority listing Cats fans!

We are Mooroopna! Go Cats!
